YEAR 10 BOYS PROGRESS TO 4TH ROUND OF NORTHERN IRELAND CUP

The Year 10 boys battled past Trinity College Belfast 2-1 in a nerve wrecking tie which sees them progress to the 4th round of the Northern Ireland Cup. It was the Cullybackey boys that took the lead thanks to superb finish from Noah Stewart after a neat ball through. Trinity responded with some of their own pressure which eventually lead to an equaliser. It was toe-to-toe for the remainder of the first half with both sides carving out good chances in an attempt to gain a half time lead. Fortunately, a moment of magic from Charlie Knowles gave the Cullybackey boys the initiative as he coolly lifted the ball into the top corner after neat footwork inside the box.
The second half was more of the same from both sides. Cullybackey spurned a couple of chances to increase their lead and Trinity missed, aided by some fantastic goalkeeping from Nathan McMullan and a focused back 4, the opportunity to take the tie to extra time. A proper cup tie that tested the ability and character of the boys which they displayed in abundance.

Well done boys!! Onwards to Round 4 where the challenge will simply get tougher.
