Our Year 11 football squad were the latest team to compete in the Mid-Antrim League tournament. This year the team went one better than last year, reaching their target of a semi-final place after some outstanding performances in the group games. A competitive 0-0 draw with Dunclug provided the team with confidence going into the ‘big one’ with St Killians. Despite going one nil down to St Killian’s they rallied until the end, with Jayden Reid scoring a super penalty to earn his team a score draw.
This meant the boys needed to avoid defeat against Slemish in their final game, and they managed to secure a third consecutive draw. Ben Clarke scored a superb breakaway goal to seal a point and their semi-final place. In the semi-final, Parkhall proved a step to far, our boys going down 2-0 in the end.
Best for Cullybackey on the day was goalkeeper Robbie Wilkinson whilst strong performances were put in from Austin McAleese and captain Kayden Wilson. Each and every boy was, once again, a credit to the College community.
