Last week, the English department presented Key Stage 3 pupils with their termly awards for ‘Eager Eights’, Year 9 ‘Homework Heroes’ and Year 10 ‘Top Talkers’. Well done to all pupils who have worked hard this term!

Everyone in Key Stage 3 is welcome to Book Club, starting on Monday 4th November (first day back after half term). This will run on Mondays of week 2 during junior lunch in Room 53 with Miss Lawther.

This week, we awarded pupils in Key Stage 3 certificates for a brilliant start to the year in English. ‘Eager Eights’ were nominated by their teacher for their enthusiastic start to the year and their great work this term; Year 9 ‘Homework Heroes’ were chosen for their fantastic effort in class and at home; and

On Friday 12th April we were delighted to welcome back the award-winning author Stuart Reid. Stuart delivered a series of creative writing workshops to all of our Year 8 students and lots of fun and enjoyment was had by all involved.

Congratulations to our Key Stage 3 World Book Day 2024 competition winners who were rewarded with a pizza lunch! Pictured below are some of the winning entries as well as students enjoying their pizza.

Well done to 8A3 who were crowned winners of the College World Book Day competition.

Well done to members of the Creative Writing Club who have their work published in the upcoming new book “The Glitch – Dreams in Ink”. The Creative Writing Club then had a party to celebrate our Creative Writing Club Winners. Yesterday the English Department visited Matthew McCartney at Camphill PS as he was the winner of the English Department’s Open Night competition. A well-deserved winner, Matthew found 93 words in 4 minutes! Also attached are the results of our mentimeter, showing our open night visitors favourite books.
