BEYOND SKIN

Beyond Skin visited Cullybackey College on Thursday 28th February. They are an organisation based in Northern Ireland using music, art, multimedia and radio as a tool for cultural education & exchange in an aim to address issues of racism & sectarianism.

The team which came included people from Northern Ireland, Ghana, Uganda, Spain, England, India and apparently ‘Belfast Zoo!’

The pupils and staff enjoyed a mix of dancing, singing and drumming with nearly 40 Djembe drums which have been brought over from Ghana. It was made extra special with a visit by our Mayoress Mrs Audrey Wales MBE, who also enthusiastically took part with the pupils doing some Djembe drumming. This is an experience that the pupils in Cullybackey College will not forget and which they all thoroughly enjoyed.
