In recognition of ‘Pancake Tuesday’, some Year 8 RE classes were treated to a lesson on the religious meaning behind Lent and hence the reason why we always celebrate ‘Pancake Tuesday’ on the day before Lent begins. Pupils watched a short video depicting the time Jesus spent in the desert fasting and they considered some things which we could “give up” or perhaps “start doing” today in school which would help us to learn better. Unfortunately we hadn’t any time left to sample any tasty pancakes but Mrs McFarlane and Miss Lawther set tonight’s homework task as “MAKING PANCAKES”!
