The Under 12s Rugby Squad took part in the NEEBSA Rugby tournament yesterday at Coleraine Grammar School. The boys performed exceptionally throughout, in what were atrocious conditions with the constant falling of snow and ice on the ground. The squad played 4 games against well-established grammar schools. They managed to score plenty of tries on their way to winning 1 of their 4 fixtures.
Special mentions to Bobby Munis who never took a backwards step, leading the group with some fine running and ferocious tackling. Jack Baird who’s passing and vision were a real highlight and Jacob McIntyre who finished the day as Cullybackey’s top try scorer.
I must also mention the two coaches, Jessica Wilkinson and James Orr. They were a real credit to the school and themselves, leading the boys, getting them ready for each of their fixtures, showing them the discipline and skills required to make it at Ulster level and celebrating in the boy’s successes on the day.
Once again, thank you so much for your continued support of the rugby squads. Without the support of parents, staff and all pupils in school, it would be impossible to give the teams these opportunities of showcasing their skills against the best in the province, so a huge thank you once again.
