Year 10 made it three wins from three with a narrow 1-0 victory over a talented Slemish College team. Games between the two have always been a tight affair since Year 8 and this one was no different with central midfielder Lewis Tennant popping up with the winning goal, ten minutes from time, with a “Firmino like” glancing header.
Chances were created at both ends and Ben McAuley in the Cullybackey goals was in top form to keep the Slemish attack at bay. Captain Ben Shaw was outstanding, alongside William Magee in defence, whilst Josh Nichol and Sam Rock kept the speedy wingers in check throughout. Up front Gavin Arbuthnot and Kaeden ‘Pinball’ Anderson created numerous chances whilst Man of the Match Ashton Thompson had a stormer on the right wing. It was his cross which lead to the winning goal by Tennant.
All in all a successful day. They now play Antrim Grammar in their final league game. The Year 10 team also await their Northern Under 14 Cup opponents having received two byes into the third round draw.
