Outstanding former pupil of Cullybackey College, and young hero, Chloe Jamison has received an award in memory of Princess Diana at Stormont as young people across Northern Ireland are honoured with The Diana Award for going above and beyond in their daily lives to create and sustain positive change.
Chloe has been an invaluable volunteer at Women’s Aid ABCLN Homework Support Club in Ballymena for over six years, where she supports young people affected by domestic violence.
Women’s Aid ABCLN CEO, Rosemary Magill says “The Diana Award is the highest accolade young people can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts. We are delighted Chloe has received this much deserved honour for her work with Women’s Aid ABCLN.”
“Chloe has undertaken training and gained qualifications to further her skills, and acts as a peer mentor and role model for the young people she supports. She supports children with their homework and participates in paired reading, and has raised funds towards educational resources for the club.”
“Chloe has delivered mental health awareness and anti-bulling programmes in local primary schools, and has also taken part in educational videos to raise awareness of emotional abuse and the impact living with domestic violence has on children in the classroom.”
Speaking at the awards ceremony Chloe said “I feel honoured and privileged to be associated with The Diana Award and Diana’s inspirational legacy. I am now at University and this award has inspired me to continue to strive to help children and young people whose lives have been affected by domestic violence.”
Rosemary added “Chloe Young people have the power to change the world and we want to thank Chloe for all her support. This truly is a great honour.”
