The Under 13 Rugby team braved the soggy conditions to finish the development tournament at Cambridge House Grammar School, unbeaten and respective champions in their division. The team consisting of Year 8 and 9 pupils displayed some scintillating attacking Rugby and gritty defensive work to produce a clean sweep of victories. The forwards led by the ever willing running of Joel Aitcheson and the power Daniel Lowry showed, restricted their opponents to only 3 tries against in 5 games. At the same time the backs, including the power of Max Mitchell, pace and guile of Isaac Wylie from full back and the fleet footedness of year 8 James Orr ran a riot when going forward, posting an impressive 21 tries. It must be noted that many of the team who are relatively new to the game aptly supported the more experienced players in the tournament victory. A special mention to Myles Cummins, a Year 8 pupil who belied his age and slight frame to carry the ball and tackle like an experienced pro. A real team performance – well done boys!
