Recently some of our Year 10 History students took part in a multi-school secondary outreach session marking 84 years since the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia.
Students linked with other schools in the UK and had the unique opportunity to listen to the testimony of Holocaust survivor, John Fieldsend BEM.
John was born in Czechoslovakia before moving to Dresden in Germany. One of John’s earliest memories was of a visit from Adolf Hitler to the town of Dresden in the mid 1930s. He later came to the UK with his brother as part of the Kindertransport.
John unfortunately lost both his parents during the Holocaust.
His amazing story of struggle and survival resonated with the students who have used John’s experiences to develop their knowledge of their current unit on the Holocaust.
