Y11 GCSE Art & Design students attended the ‘Write on Art’ workshop at the Ulster Museum with poet Galia Admoni.

The project was funded through the Paul Melon Centre (London), an educational charity and research institute that supports new ways of understanding British art history and culture.

Galia encouraged our young people to share their personal and critical responses to art and explore different forms of self-expression through writing.

Using museum collections, pupils created curatorial labels for work of their choice. They later had the opportunity to share these with their peers and museum staff, and work was placed in the spaces for the general public to view.

Next term pupils will submit their creative writing to the organisations nationwide competition.

The day ended with a visit to the beautiful Tropical Ravine and Palm House in Botanic Gardens.
