This year our Year 13 and 14 students had the opportunity to work alongside Paralympian Dr Michael McKillop MBE, as part of the Lidl Community Works Sport for Good Programme. Our sixth form students as well as both Year 9 and 10 year groups had the opportunity to hear about his inspirational story and the values that led him to his sporting success.
On Day 1 of the two day programme, Dr McKillop delivered a Sport for Good athlete and student mentor workshop where students took part in activities to help develop their personal skills and also improve their lifestyle choices. Students undertook physical activity sessions to focus on their event outcomes and wide school themes including communication and teamwork.
They then had the opportunity to brainstorm an event and chose to organise a ‘Sports Fun Day’ for Year 10 pupils.
