Last weekend, Senior SU pupils had a great evening at the SU Unite event with pupils from Ballymena schools. Erika Stevenson, Hannah Millar and Rebekah Hood (Year 12) were on the committee who organised this, and we all had a brilliant time. Keep an eye out for more events in the future!
Cullybackey College was formally inspected by the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) in September. We were delighted with their report, in particular ETI’s recognition that, ‘The kind, polite, respectful pupils have a strong sense of pride in, and belonging to, the school and their community which helps them address issues with hope and positive attitudes.’

Our A Level ICT classes attended a ‘Bring IT On’ Event hosted by NRC, Farm Lodge campus. Pupils were able to listen to a range of employers about IT employment and apprenticeship opportunities. They participated within 2 competitive workshops which focused on programming and cyber security, whilst winning Amazon vouchers.
Connecting Cullybackey to London, the education team at the National Gallery hosted a workshop with our Year 11 GCSE Art and Design pupils. Using work from their collection they explored Still Life and Composition to support their portfolio work on this subject.

This workshop aims to build parents confidence to talk to their children and young people about mental health and self-harm. The workshop will take place on Wednesday 4th December at 7pm on Zoom and full detail can be found on the information flyer.
Last week our Head Boy, Head Girl and their deputies, participated in a leadership conference at Slemish College. They had the opportunity to work with students from other schools and gained a valuable insight from speakers about what makes a good leader. It was an enjoyable and worthwhile opportunity.

Senior SU met again on Wednesday afternoon in Mrs McFarlane’s room. Eve from Scripture Union spoke to us about the importance of prayer as a way of communicating with God and she gave us a few pointers on themes to use to help us pray more effectively.
