The Year 8/9 team, who qualified from the regional futsal tournament, travelled to the Shankhill Leisure Centre to compete in the NI Finals. The young team competed well, beating St Mary’s Lisburn 4-2, although lost narrowly to Ashfield Boys’ and Kilkeel to miss out on the final. Goals from Robbie Speirs, Dylan Duff and Luke McGaughey rewarded the effort put in by all of the squad that travelled. Goalkeepers Sam Gault and Scott Irwin shared the time between the sticks and performed excellently. In defence Sam Rock, Josh Nicholl and Cole Magill stood up to the pace and physicality of the game, in the mid-field Dylan Duff, Bailey King Hay and Kenzie Meharg put in tireless performances and at the attacking end Robbie Spiers’ trickery and skill was supported by the ever willing running and guile of Luke McGaughey.
