Term 1 was a busy period for all Cullybackey’s football teams, in various League and Cup campaigns.
Year 8 have qualified for the NI Plate competition quarter final, against Hazelwood. They also host Cambridge House in the Mid-Antrim Cup quarter final.
Year 9 finished off their League campaign with three wins from four and now look forward to an away tie at Parkhall, in the Mid-Antrim cup quarter final in January.
Year 10 have had a very successful first term. They were defeated on penalties in the last 16 of the NI Cup, but put a smile on their faces soon after, winning four and drawing one of the League games to retain their Mid Antrim League title from last year. They now entertain Dunclug in their Cup quarter final, hoping to go for “the double” having previously achieved this in Year 8.
The Year 12 team are still in NI Plate action, they face Belfast side Lagan College in early January with a quarter final place at stake. Meanwhile, the senior team bowed out to RBAI in the NI senior plate.
All in all, an action packed term. PE staff are particularly delighted at the level of performance and pride the pupils take in their school when pulling on the shirts and playing football for the College, reflected in visiting teachers’ comments on their conduct and performances.
Another busy term awaits teams as the Mid-Antrim Cups begin and the Year 8 and 12 teams continue their efforts in the NI Plate competitions.
