CULLYBACKEY COLLEGE 1 – DUNCLUG 2

The Year 8 Hockey team played the first round of the Ballymena league against rivals’ Dunclug on Wednesday 26th October. The girls started off the game really well, with lots of energy and determination. This showed in the game as they spent most of the 1st half in Dunclug’s half, constantly attacking. Jessica White, Halle Miller and Anna Maternaghan worked constantly, attacking up front. This resulted in a super goal by Jessica White.

Dunclug got one break through our defences and utilised this well by a good goal from one of their key players. With an equaliser being scored, the Cullybackey girls continued working hard, unfortunately, a quick break through our defences meant that Dunclug scored the winning goal in the last 5 seconds of the game. A disappointing result for a great first game for the Year 8 girls.

Particular mention must go to Gemma Taggart, Hannah Carson, Emma Cruishank and Katherine Millar as they worked tirelessly in defence. Kaitlin Purdy made some great saves in goals. Well done girls!
