In Science this week Year 12 Double Award students were carrying out heart dissections. They were able to observe the four chambers of the heart and picture the pathway that blood would take through it.

8A12 Science group celebrated Numeracy success yesterday. They have been reading scales of both measuring cylinders and thermometers. Reading scales is part of the schools’ Numeracy focus this year. Well done everyone!

8A5 celebrated Literacy success today. They wrote exciting safety stories in Science and presented them to the class. This was part of our Literacy focus for this year – talking and listening using V.O.I.C.E.

Year 8, 9 and 11 had the opportunity to dissect hearts in science. The pupils were very brave during the dissection. Year 10 pupils used microscopes today to observe cell organelles. The nucleus of the onion cells can be seen as it has been stained yellow. The development of practical skills is very important as Year 10 start to prepare for GCSE courses in the near future.

Year 10 have been learning about Chemical Reactions in Science. Last week pupils were carrying out investigations with Elephants Toothpaste.

Year 12 Double Award Science students dissected hearts on Friday. They examined the various structures and how they allowed the heart to function.
