Year 8 are turning detectives next Thursday when they take part in a fun crime mystery event to develop their Literacy skills. They must solve the case of Marie’s missing glasses before the school plunges into more chaos!

On Friday 8th April Cullybackey College hosted award-winning Scottish author Stuart Reid.  Year 8 and 9 were entertained as Stuart talked about the importance of reading and brought to life some extracts from his ‘Gorgeous George’ series of books (with the help of some willing volunteers!).  Some classes went on to have ‘creative writing’ workshops with

Congratulations to the English Department’s Year 8 ‘Eager Eights’! Certificates were presented to the top student in each Year 8 class who has shown the most enthusiasm in English.  Well done to all!

Congratulations to the English Department’s Year 10 ‘Top Talkers’! Certificates were presented to the top student in each Year 10 English class who has participated the most in class discussions and presentations.  Well done to all!

Cullybackey College is delighted to be able to provide additional reading support through our Reading Partners programme. This programme takes place during registration three mornings a week, enabling a number of year 8 pupils to work with a sixth form mentor. Thank you to all the 6th form pupils involved for their enthusiasm and support!

Year 8 classes turned detective for the afternoon, on Wednesday 25th of June, trying to solve the puzzle of who murdered Mr. Manson. This event helped to develop their Speaking and Listening as well as Reading literacy skills.
