Visiting artist Jayne Cherry has been working with our Y13 and Y14 Art & Design students within class. Students have been introduced to Jayne’s artistic practice and listened to her journey in becoming an artist. Through the medium of textiles, students have been learning to thread up and create a ‘slow stitching’ sample inspired by American quilts. Students had an opportunity to interview the artist and all work will be documented and used to build their portfolios. We look forward to seeing Jayne next month when she will continue this work with our A Level students together with GCSE pupils having an opportunity to work with her also. This opportunity is funded by the Freeland’s Foundation as part of the New Visions project.
