Athletes Naomi Henry, Isaac Wylie, Daniel Lowry, Ross Stevenson, Ben Shaw and Adam Steele showed their class in a very successful day at the NEBSSA finals at Antrim Forum. The athletes won a total of 7 medals, 6 Gold and 1 Silver, in 7 events. Naomi (Girls Shot) and Daniel (Boys shot) picked up gold with personal bests. Isaac Wylie dominated his 100m final, winning by over half a second in an eye catching display. Ross Stevenson continued to dominate the 100m and 200m in his age group displaying a blistering turn of foot to pick up two gold medals. Ben Shaw beat off stiff competition to win the U-14 high jump in difficult conditions with a personal best. Finally, Adam Steele put in an outstanding performance only to be denied gold by a short distance. In an extremely tough field he put in the performance of his young career to pick up a silver medal.
An outstanding achievement by all Cullybackey athletes – well done!
Good luck to Ross Stevenson who will put his pace to the test next Wednesday at the Athletics District Championships.
