Extra-Curricular Football
Each year from September to Christmas we run our football club on a Tuesday after school. This is open to all boys regardless of ability and is a chance for our pupils to enjoy playing with their classmates, make new friends and have some fun. We are indebted to the staff of Coaching for Christ for their support over the past ten years. They have provided top class coaching for our pupils during afterschool clubs as well as curricular classes and have been a massive part in our football development in school over the past number of years.
Local Football Competitions
We participate regular at all levels of schoolboy football and are involved in numerous competitions throughout the country. We are actively involved in the Mid Antrim Secondary Schools Football Association (MASSFA) competitions where we take part in football blitz competitions at Year 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 age groups. This involves both league and cup competitions where our boys compete against rival Ballymena schools and also schools from the surrounding Mid Antrim area.
Northern Ireland Cup Competitions
Each year we participate in the Northern Ireland Schools Football Association (NISFA) Cup competitions at Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 level. This involves pitting our wits against opposition from across the country, taking part in both the NI Cup and NI Plate competitions. In recent years we have been successful in reaching the quarter final stages of the competitions, where our boys have been unlucky not to progress against some of the more established footballing schools. These competitions represent a fantastic opportunity to get involved and represent the school in day trips across the country, whilst sampling experiences they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Futsal
Futsal is an ever growing sport in Northern Ireland and we regularly enter Irish Football Association (IFA) Futsal competitions at U13 and U15 level. Futsal is a popular activity during curriculum PE and is an area we are looking to develop in the near future.
