The Northern Ireland Curriculum is assessed using GCSE, Key Skills, OCR Nationals and other examinations. Pupils will be able to choose from courses delivered entirely in school and those delivered in partnership with the Northern Regional College. Some subjects will be compulsory, others optional.

The emphasis in the Northern Ireland Curriculum is the Development of Skills and Personal Capabilities, in particular: Managing Information, Thinking, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Creativity, Self Management, Working with Others, Communication, ICT and Using Mathematics.

The Curriculum Aim is to empower young people to achieve their potential and to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives. There is an emphasis on Assessment for Learning, giving pupils advice and direction on how to improve personal skills and attainment.

The school Sixth Form has been established since 1994 and offers a mix of General and Applied subjects at GCE A Level.

Cullybackey High School is a member of Ballymena Learning Together and this offers collaborative opportunities to widen the provision at post 16. Courses in Cullybackey High are open to students from other schools and our pupils have the opportunity to study in other schools and in the Northern Regional College. Studying two A levels in the home school and a third A Level in a collaborative school gives pupils the benefits of a base where good relationships have already been established and the opportunity to work with and enjoy studies in a host school.

Through collaboration we are working towards the delivery of the 27 subject choice aspired to by the Entitlement Framework.
