Drama explores a variety of styles of creative communication throughout the junior years. Acting skills, studying scripts, improvisation, creative character writing, storytelling, dance, theatrical movement, monologues, dialogues and basic designs are all part of the Drama programme.

KS3:

Year 8

Students explore a basic range of drama topics in order to build a strong foundation for further study. Acting skills, creative writing, design and dance are all explored.

Year 9

Students build on their foundation of skills learned in year 9, going deeper in character study within a variety of scripts, acting skills, vocal development and movement tasks.

Year 10

Students secure their knowledge of Drama through higher levels of speaking and listening tasks. More emphasis is placed on creative writing and script study.

GCSE/KS4:



Year 11

GCSE Drama involves 3 Components, a devised performance (25%) to a stimulus, a scripted performance (35%) of a published play and a written examination (40%). Students must choose either a performance or a design pathway. Component 1 is assessed in early Spring 2018.

Year 12

Component 2 and the written exam are completed in the 2nd year of the GCSE Drama course with CEA
